Zhemgang postpones dzongkhag tshogdu

Quarantine roommate of the woman, who is in Zhemgang, was also quarantined yesterday. While waiting for the PCR test results, over 20 contacts of were traced as of yesterday.

The immediate family members of the primary contacts have been home quarantined.

Zhemgang has called of and postponed the dzongkhag tshogdu.

Zhemgang Dzongdag Lobzang Dorji said that the local government officials were sent to their respective gewogs with special permits. “They need to create awareness and pass and manage lockdown messages to the people.”

The movement of vehicles and people was stopped in the morning but was allowed towards afternoon so that the people are not stranded.

Medical needs and supply of essential goods  are being delivered by the task force members. The task force members reached essential goods to over 14 households yesterday.

The rapid tests of the primary contacts are sent to Gelephu Central Referral Hospital. Results are expected today.

Sarpang was one of the dzongkhags the Covid-19 positive patient visited after she was released from the quarantine.

As the government announced nationwide lockdown yesterday, the dzongkhag deployed security officials as per the plans.

The contact tracing is underway and the number is expected to rise. The test results of the 17 primary contacts came out negative yesterday.
