Thimphu City FC (TCFC) defeated High Quality United FC (HQUFC) 3-0 in the ongoing BoB Bhutan Premier League (BPL) yesterday at the Changlimithang Stadium.

This is the second consecutive win for City in the last four matches in the league. With 10 points, City is on the top of the table as of yesterday.

The Cityzens dominated the game with an early lead in 19th minute from midfielder Tshering Dorji’s goal. City’s new striker, Kencho Tobgay scored a brace in 38th and 41st minutes.

HQUFC fought back in the second half exploring every loose-ball to get back in the game. High Quality’s two key players – Lhendup Dorji and Tenzin Thinley — were heavily marked by City’s defenders.

HQUFC has acquired only three points in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Tensung FC is the only team in the league that has played only one game. The newcomers settled for a draw (1-1) against Transport United FC on their debut match on August 1.

People questioned Tensung’s low game rate in the league.

As per the notification from the club, it was stated that the RBA was under the lockdown and couldn’t resume their BPL matches on September 17. Following instructions from the authorities, the restriction on inter dzongkhag movement was again prolonged for a week which led to the postponement of all the scheduled matches until September 24.

Tensung FC missed the match against Druk Stars FC on September 18 and HQUFC on September 22. Tensung FC will play their second match against Paro FC on September 27 at MTC ground in Wangdue.

Paro United FC will face Transport United FC today at the Changlimithang Stadium.
