The office of the Returning Officer (RO) in Chukha received 1106 conventional postal ballots and 3827 facilitation ballots yesterday.
Phuentsholing constituency has 10,737 voters of which 5,401 are female and 5336 male voters while Bongo_Chapcha constituency has 7,036 male and 7,284 female voters with total of 14,320 registered voters.
While opening Envelope A, Phuentsholing constituency received 259 conventional ballots and 1,037 facilitation ballots. Five conventional ballots of male voters were rejected, as one ballot was sent without a competent witness while four others had the citizenship identity card number missing.
RO Rinzin Namgyel said, a competent witness should be a registered voter and in this case, the ballots lacked this requirement. “However, today while counting, if the representatives of the both party agree to add it in the counting, we will count, as ECB has instructed to minimise the rejection as much as possible” he added.
For Bongo_Chapcha constituency, 4,740 people had registered for FB and 899 for conventional postal ballot, whereas 281 people went for conventional postal ballot and 1,568 with FB for Phuntsholing constituency.
The RO office for Bongo_Chapcha received 847 conventional ballots and 2,790 FB. The office accepted 836 conventional ballots and rejected 12 including one FB.
The office deployed 165 polling officials and 117 security personals for 35 polling stations in Bongo-Chapcha.
Phuentsholing constituency has 36 polling stations and the office deployed 165 polling officials and 150 security personnel.
