Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen addressed the annual environmental officers’ conference yesterday in Thimphu. The conference marks the culmination of a number of events, activities and initiatives commemorating World Environment Day, from June 5.
Her Majesty expressed concerns over the growing plastic pollution and waste management issues in Bhutan, and emphasised the importance of finding solutions to address them. Her Majesty commended the initiatives held across the country to celebrate World Environment Day, and reminded that these actions should not be merely symbolic, but an every day practice. As the Royal patron for environment, Her Majesty works closely with environment agencies and NGOs.
