At the 22nd Royal Institute of Management (RIM) convocation yesterday, 179 students received certificates for the completion of five different courses. 

It saw 34 graduates of class of 2017 and 13 graduates of class of 2018 receiving their Masters in Business Administration. 53 were awarded their Post Graduate Diploma in National Law, 36 in Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, 35 in Post Graduate Diploma in Finance Management and eight in Information Management System.  

Of the 179 students, 106 were male and 73 female. 

Addressing the students at the convocation, Chief Advisor Dasho Tshering Wangchuk said convocation translates as coming together to reflect on past achievements, savour the present and to look ahead in fulfilling future opportunities and dreams. “Serve our nation with loyalty, dedication and humility. Always respect people you serve. Create a welcoming atmosphere anywhere you are. Make an effort to enquire and help people.” 

Professional, efficient, and effective services are the rights of the people and we must ensure that it is delivered, he said. 

To date, the Australian government through the University of Canberra facilitated about 240 students. 

A 41-year-old Chencho Wangmo is one of the recipients of the ‘Tashi Delek’ certificate granted by His Majesty The King. She completed her Masters in Business Management in 2017.  “I am grateful to the government for the scholarship and feel privileged to have been one of the nominees to receive the certificate from His Majesty. This boosts my motivation and inspires me to work harder.”

She is a vice principal at the Lungtenphu Lower Secondary School in Thimphu and among the 11 students who received the ‘Tashi Delek’ certificate. Another students received scholastic honours.  

Advisor to the labour ministry and chairman of the RIM board Bachu Phub Dorji, said that the masters programme is the epitome of the close and successful collaboration between the university of Canberra and the institute. “The collaboration has been further strengthened with the launch of five professional accounts programme last month.” 

After the ceremony, His Majesty The King granted an audience to the graduates in the afternoon.
