A total of 88 volunteers from nine youth centres attended the second national youth exchange programme at Chumey, Bumthang from July 8-10.

According to a press release from the Youth Center Division, Department of Youth and Sports, the main reason for organising the exchange programme is to offer a platform for the youth volunteers to come together, share activities, achievements and challenges they faced as volunteers.

Sessions on values were held to make the youth understand and identify values that are integral to their development. Health officials gave basic information on First Aid and skills to the youth to enable them to help themselves and others.

The programme, which was held at Sonam Kuenphen Higher Secondary School had exercise sessions in the morning and cultural competitions in the evenings. They also visited the temples.

The volunteers are from nine Youth Centers participated in the program viz Trashigang Youth Center, Mongar Youth Center, Zhemgang Youth Center, Phuentsholing Youth Center, Paro Youth Center, Khasadrapchu Youth Center, Changjiji Youth Center and Harmony.

The exchange program for the youth volunteers started last year. With support from UNICEF, the programme was organised by the Youth Center Division and respective local governments.
