A centenarian, Kunzang Lhamo, from Dolmashong village in Lhuentse celebrated the National Day by offering butter lamps and prayer in her home yesterday.

The 103-year-old woman said she wished and prayed for the country to enjoy peace, prosperity and progress under the visionary and selfless monarchs.

She said people should serve the nation with utmost sincerity and dedication. “I am very blessed to celebrate the 111th National Day and offer my prayers for Their Majesties and the country.”

Lhuentse dzongkhag officials celebrated the National Day with the people, who came to watch the tshechu at the dzong.

In Mongar, His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck hosted tokha to the people who came to celebrate the day at the Mongar public ground. Civil servants, students and residents performed cultural programmes.
