Football: Thimphu City FC on Sunday held FC Terton, champions of Yanmar Thimphu Premier League (YTPL) to a  1-1 draw  in the opening game of the Bank of Bhutan National Football League at Changlimithang.
The A-league champions, FC Terton, were handed a tough national league test in their first home game against home rivals, City, who looked more focused and confident than they were in the YTPL.
FC Terton couldn’t pull off performance like they did during the YTPL in May when they came back from a goal down to beat City and to secure top position in the table.
Striker Diwash Subba of FC Terton broke the deadlock in the 34th minute to give the champions the lead. However, in the 66th minute of the second half, defender Dawa Gyeltshen of City booted in a powerful strike to spoil the party for the champions.
City and Terton have a point each after the first game.
In the second game of the tournament, Thimphu FC will take on the debutant Paro United FC at Paro College of Education tomorrow.
