Having lived and served in the village for the last four years, Dawa Norbu from Lhamoizingkha is one of the NC aspirants from Dagana.

The 32-year-old has a bachelor’s degree in computer application from Bharathiar University in India. He completed his masters of business administration and human resource from Periyar University in India.  Dawa also has a master’s diploma in system administration from Computer Software College in South India.

After completing his studies in 2013, Dawa Norbu went back to his village to join their family construction business. Today, he runs a wholesale business in the village.

He said that contesting in the election and serving, as an elected leader was a dream for him. “I contested for the post of a gup during the 2016 Local Government election and lost.”

Dawa Norbu said that participating in LG elections was a learning experience and prepared him for the upcoming election. He claims he knows the people of Lhamoizingkha well and the problems they face.

“One of my primary objectives to contest is to find solutions to reduce poverty in Dagana,” he said.

He said Dagana is reflected in the Bhutan Poverty Analysis Report 2017 as one of the poorest dzongkhags and there is a need for people’s representative to work more to improve it. “Poverty reduction or eradication is one of the main focus in Dagana,” he said.

Besides poverty, he said land conversion and mechanised farming are some of the problems people in the locality face.

He is meeting voters in his gewog as part of his familiarisation tour. “Consultation on issues concerning the people and hearing from them on the expectations from a NC candidate are some of the things that keeps me busy.”
