Three people, including the driver, died on the spot in Jurmey gewog, Mongar when the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the farm road and tumbled approximately 150 meters down on February 9.
The bodies of the deceased were retrieved and handed over to their relatives on the same day.
There were eight passengers, including two children, in the vehicle when the incident happened. Out of the five passengers, two were seriously injured and have been admitted to the eastern regional referral hospital in Mongar, while three are admitted at Gyalpoizhing hospital.
The incident occured at around 8.30pm at Yadon area in Jurmey when they were returning to Bacha village from Gyalpoizhing.
According to sources, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a gentle slope of the farm road and went in reverse.
Sources said the deceased driver bought the vehicle recently and was driving around the village.
Overloading of the vehicle is suspected to have caused the accident.
