A 29 year-old man from Jamkhar, Trashiyangtse died on spot when the Toyota Hilux he was travelling in went off road at Retshalu yesterday.

The incident occurred around 9.30pm when the deceased along with 13 others, including 5 females, were on their way to the ongoing Gomkora tshechu. Police officials suspect overloading could have resulted in the accident.

The vehicle went 20 feet off the road when the driver was trying to take a turn at one of the bends at Retshalu, which is approximately 14kms from Trashigang towards Trashiyangtse.

Other passengers suffered minor injuries and were rushed to Trashigang hospital. Most of them were discharged yesterday. The accident was reported to police at 9:40pm through the 113 emergency services. Police are still investigating the case.
