Wangdue—A father, mother, their nephew, and their eight-month-old baby boy died in an accident on January 19.
The couple’s 11-year-old son is the sole survivor.
The family was travelling from Wangdue to Trongsa when their car veered off the road, leading to the fatal crash.
The father was reportedly driving at the time of the accident.
The crash occurred at Chazam in Saephu, around 70 kilometres from Wangdue.
While the exact cause is unknown, it is suspected that the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The couple’s elder son was rushed to Wangdue hospital for emergency care. He was later transferred to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital in Thimphu for further treatment.
The driver of the vehicle worked as a technician with the Basochhu Hydropower Project, while the mother was an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) facilitator in Basochhu.
Passersby reported the incident to the police, prompting an immediate evacuation.
The police retrieved the bodies and handed them over to the family.
