Amidst rumours on social media that popular Bhutanese actor Karma Choechung has succumbed to head injuries he suffered in an accident, officials of the Film Association of Bhutan said that the actor is still at the national referral hospital.

The actor was seriously injured when he fell down from a horse when shooting for his yet to be released movie, Nyngtob, the Brave Heart on December 5. Officiating president of the Film Association of Bhutan (FAB), Nidup Dorji, said that the actor fell down from the horse while shooting in Sephu, Wangduephodrang.

Karma Choechung, a favorite among many Bhutanese, suffered severe head injuries in the accident and is in the intensive care unit at the national referral hospital. “It is a serious injury, but he is still alive,” said Nidup Dorji.

Karma Choechung has worked in 29 films. His first movie was Lo Tay Hing Tay and he had starred in popular movies like The wind of Karma, Singye and Scharchokpa Zamin.

Meanwhile, fans are praying for his recovery with “get well soon” messages spreading on popular social media pages.
