Collaboration: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has agreed to work with the SAARC Development Fund (SDF) to co-finance cross border projects and programmes in the areas of rural energy, transport and ICT connectivity projects focusing on up-gradation of infrastructure and to enhance regional connectivity in SAARC member states, according to an SDF press release.

An AIIB delegation led by the bank’s vice president & corporate secretary Sir Danny Alexander,  visited the SAARC SDF office in Thimphu and met with SDF’s CEO (Dr) Sunil Motiwal yesterday. The details and formulation of strategies including the action plan for the strategic growth of SAARC member states was also discussed.

AIIB delegates also met the finance minister Namgay Dorji and foreign minister Damcho Dorji.
