Phurpa Lhamo | Wangdue

A 6,255sq/m park is being constructed in Bajo town, Wangdue. Residents will have access to cafeteria, children’s playground, open-air theatre, and jogging and cycling space in a single park.

The recreational park is coming up on 1.5-acre land in the core of the town.

According to Wangdue’s planning officer, Jigme Dorji, the park would also have space for picnickers. “Paths and lanes in the park will be disabled-friendly.”

The open-air theatre would accommodate around 3,000 people. Apart from entertainment purposes, the theatre would also be used to conduct workshops and advocacy programmes, said Jigme Dorji.

The 16.3 million project will also have a water foundation, gazebos, swings and a playground for children.

Surrounding the park, there will be parking space for about 70 vehicles.

The park will not have any exotic plants.

The construction of the park, which began in September last year, is expected to be ready by September 30 this year.
