Bhutan’s first Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Doma Tshering, presented her letter of Credence to President Michel Temer on April 25 at the Palacio do Planalto, Presidential Palace, in Brasilia. The presentation of credentials marks the official assumption of duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bhutan to Brazil.

The President welcomed Ambassador Doma Tshering to Brazil. He said Bhutan is well known for its radiant policy of Gross National Happiness and said that this marks the start of deeper relations and ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Doma Tshering called on the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Marcos Bezerra Abbott Galvão, at the Itamaraty Palace. She also called on the Acting Secretary for Asia and the Pacific, Ambassador Ary Quintella, and the Director of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, Ambassador Joao Almino. They reviewed bilateral relations between Brazil and Bhutan, and discussed areas of future cooperation.

Yesterday, she called on the President of the Brazilian Space Agency and the Director of the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy, Rio Branco Diplomatic relations were established between Bhutan and Brazil on September 21 2009.
