To commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between the Republic of South Korea and Bhutan, various cultural programmmes were staged at the Clock Tower Square in Thimphu on September 24.

The event, which was exclusively for Korean artists, gathered a crowd of more than 4,000 people.  Home minister Dawa Gyaltshen was the chief guest.

Popular artists and groups from South Korea such as Kim Yu Jin, Gugak E sang, BEATBOX DuFo, MB Crew, Animation crew and Cosomic D-Flo performed Korean traditional dance, fusion music and street dances among others.

The event was part of the Bhutan-Korea Friendship offer, which also saw the launch of a joint stamp album, the korean film festival and k-pop concert.

A press release from Woezer events states that the way the response from the public was a clear indication of the popularity of Korean pop music in the country. “We sincerely hope that the diplomatic relationship between the two countries grow to further heights. Woezer Events management and staff would like to thank South Korean Embassy for giving us an opportunity to host the event.”
