The body is considered as a guest house and the soul as the guest. they may separate at any time. Which is more body or soul?
I believe the body is a temple where God resides. This temple (the body) serves as a gateway to the divine (the soul). Yet many of us lose ourselves in the body’s temporary pleasures. The world entices us with food, sex, possessions, power, and attention. Our ego grows insatiable, moving from one high to the next, until we are caught in an endless cycle of craving and striving. We are pulled deeper into the noise, unaware that Yama, the god of death approaches to claim our weary, scarred bodies and minds. Only then do we confront the futility of our past pursuits.
If the body is a temple, it must be cared for with reverence. We must keep it clean and sacred. A temple exudes peace, a sanctuary where worries melt into silence. Inside this body, we find the most accessible path to God, the soul that dwells within.
To understand the workings of the body is to open the doorway to the mind. And to understand the mind creates the opportunity to transcend it. When the mind is transcended, we encounter the divine presence that has always been within us. Yet, the body, mind and the material world make so much noise that we miss this stillness.
Our bodies bind us to the earth, but our souls connect us to the infinite. The body is half animal, half man. If we feed only the animal, the man within withers. But when we nourish the man, a selfless spirit arises.
Water cannot wet it, wind cannot dry it, fire cannot burn it, and the sharpest weapon cannot pierce it. The true you was never born and thus can never die.
Once you discover that you are neither the body nor the mind, but instead the divine essence that dwells within, you will live ecstatically in this body and in the next.
