Crime: An employee of Bhutan Development Bank Ltd (BDBL), Pema Wangchuk, 23, has been handed a jail term of three years and two months for forging bank documents to avail a loan in his cousin’s name.

On February 16, Pema Wangchuk went to the office with his cousin Yeshi Choden and processed the loan of Nu 500,000 with fake documents. Three days later, Pema Wangchuk sent his wife Choki Wangmo to the BDBL office in Yadi with a withdrawal form and withdrew Nu 499,000.

According to a police report, Pema Wangchuk had gone to Tongzhang, Trashiyangtse on December 4, 2015 to get signatures of the gup and dzongdag to process the loan for Yeshi Choden.

It is believed that Cheki Wangmo has fled to India.
