To add character, functionality and ecological value to open and green urban spaces, the Bhutan Ecological Society (BES) has begun an initiative to plant fruit trees across the country.

At the launch of the initiative, DeSuups, 22 students of Ugyen Wangchuck Institute of Conservation and Research (UWICER) and volunteers planted 82 fruit trees at the Ecological Park in Changangkha in Thimphu yesterday morning. The varieties included Apple, Apricot, Cherries, Peach, and Pear.
