Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering participated in the 2021 Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 virtual Summit hosted by the Republic of Korea yesterday.

Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering shared how Bhutan’s visionary monarchs have pursued policies that safeguard its environment and underlined how the development philosophy Gross National Happiness balances development and natural heritage.

Lyonchhen said, “Just as we claim that the impacts of climate change see no geographical boundaries, investments in green recoveries by the bigger economies need not be confined within one’s own country as we are talking about one planet.”

P4G is a global initiative launched in 2017 to address the most imminent challenges that the planet faces: Responding to climate changes and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The summit becomes a stepping stone for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) that will be held in Glasgow this year. This year’s theme of the summit is “Inclusive Green Recovery towards Carbon Neutrality”.
