Immigration and census department won the Asia Pacific Smart Card Association’s Radiant Launch Award in Dhaka during the 11th Government Forum on Electronic Identity on December 1.

The award recognises excellence in planning, design, implementation, and operation of electronic identity schemes and services.

Bhutan bagged the award for implementing the biometric enrolment into immigr ation information system in 2014. Immigration department director general Thinley Wangchuk and ICT officer Tashi Dorji received the award.

There were 46 entries from Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Gulf countries.
