At the invitation of the Government of India, Her Majesty Gyalyum Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck will grace the opening ceremony of ‘Bhutan Week’ on September 23 in New Delhi as the Chief Guest along with the Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu. The cabinet and foreign secretaries and other senior officials will accompany Her Majesty.

With 300 participants from Bhutan showcasing Bhutan’s rich culture and the Bhutanese way of life, the ‘Bhutan Week’ will be the biggest event on Bhutan ever held in India, a press release from the foreign ministry states. 

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India. As part of the celebrations, the Bhutanese embassy in New Delhi in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the Indian Council of Cultural Relations and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) ‘Bhutan Week’ is organised by is organising Bhutan Week at the IGNCA Complex from September 23 to 30 September.
