Missing: A 51-year-old Bhutanese man, Phub Tshering, has gone missing since the morning of February 2 in Kolkata. He was last seen at 5:30am in CCTV footage of the hotel (Kolkata Guest House) where he had put up.

Kuensel learnt that Phub Tshering had reached Kolkata on January 31 on the Bhutan Bus from Phuentsholing. Kuensel also checked with the Bhutan Post office and found that he had boarded the bus from Phuentsholing.

Originally from Thimphu, Phub Tshering had gone to Kolkata as an escort of a patient. Phub Tshering’s friends in the hotel informed the Royal Bhutan Consulate in Kolkata.

The acting consul general, Phuntsho Drukpa, said the office was informed about the missing person at 11am. “A help team was immediately arranged and put to action.”

The help team searched for Phub Tshering in the vicinity of the guesthouse until 7pm but were unable to find him.

After 24 hours, the office of the consulate general in Kolkata registered a missing person’s case with the police in Kolkata.

The Bhutanese community in Kolkata and the missing person’s family plan to conduct a search today.
