A song from a local band, Phase to Face, will be screened during the International Film Festival Manhattan 2022 under the Khatak Film Society programme next week.

Khatak Film Society is a New York-based organisation dedicated to showcasing the work of filmmakers from the Himalayas to a global audience.

The vocalist of the band, Goshen Gurung, said that it makes the team proud to be selected among other international artists.

He said: “We put so much effort in every song that we released, and when we get recognised for it, we are overwhelmed with joy.”

“Ngo Mishay Bay” by Phase to Face will be featured among eight other songs from India and US from October 15.

Goshen Gurung said that the song is about loving someone you just met and realising that this moment may be the last to see that person.

He said that it was a proud moment for them to represent Bhutan on an international platform.

The band released three originals until now.

The five-member band has Rajiv Thapa as the guitarist, Sanjiv Thapa as the lead guitarist, Abhinash Mongar as the drummer, and Suren Limbu as the bassist.

Another Bhutanese song called “Lab Mey” by Karma Wangyel and Leczin produced in the US is selected for screening at the festival as well.

The International Film Festival Manhattan is to create an opportunity for filmmakers and artists to showcase their works in New York.
