Jigme Namgyel LSS will play against Zilnon Namgyelling LSS on May 7, while Dechencholing HSS will face Taba LSS.

The Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA) is organising the first under(U)-15 Women’s Softball League at Motithang HSS’s sports pitch in Thimphu.

The league kicked off on April 30 with Dechencholing HSS defeating Taba LSS 13-3. Dorji Wangmo of Dechencholing was the star of the game, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and seven strikeouts.

The BBSA is also conducting U-15 Boys Baseball League’s second edition at the same venue. In the first game on April 30, DHSS defeated Taba LSS 9-2. Thinley Jamtsho of DHSS was the winning pitcher, going six innings and striking out 17.

BBSA is hoping to expand the leagues to other districts in the future, but is currently limited by a lack of fields, sponsors, funds, and equipment. However, BBSA is committed to growing baseball and softball in Bhutan and is optimistic that the sport will continue to grow in popularity in the years to come.

BBSA currently has around 2,600 registered players and is hoping to attract even more players in the future. It is also working to develop a national team that can compete internationally.

Baseball and softball are relatively new sports in Bhutan, but they are quickly gaining popularity. BBSA is playing a vital role in growing the sport, and they are excited to see what the future holds for baseball and softball in Bhutan.
