Bhutan’s maternal health improves

The situation of maternal health in the country has improved. According to a recent study on the situation of maternal health in Bhutan, the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) declined from 255 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2000 to 89 in 2017.

According to the Director of Public Health, Karma Lhazin, the issue of maternal health in Bhutan revolves around inaccessibility and the three kinds of delay model.
