The Trongsa-Wangduephodrang highway, which is blocked between Thumangdrak and Viewpoint in Trongsa is expected to open to traffic by today evening.

Departments of Roads’ (DoR) chief engineer in Trongsa, Taugay Choidup, said incessant rain on the last few days have eroded almost 50ms of the road formation width and a huge boulder had blocked the road completely by 4pm yesterday.

The chief engineer said that although men and machinery are deployed to the site to drill the boulder to blast it, it will not be possible to clear the block. “Heavy rain impedes the work at the site.”

Meanwhile, travellers commuting along the highway are cautioned of bee attacks near Nyala Dangla, with many reporting attacks.
