Tsirang police yesterday found the body of a 61-year-old taxi driver, who had gone missing since December 8.

The body was found in a Maruti van that had veered off 200m below the road in Thakorling, Patshaling gewog yesterday.

His brother informed police that he did not return home after leaving on December 8. Police were also told that he didn’t answer his calls and that the phone was switched off since December 12. The family members claimed that they kept calling him.

According to Tsirang police, doctors of Damphu general hospital conducted a medical examination and declared that the driver had died about five days ago. He suffered a head injury.

Tsirang police suspect sleep driving as the cause of accident. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
