Seven people tested positive for Covid-19 on March 16 in Bumthang.

Three were from the community and four were primary contacts.

The lone positive case in the dzongkhag, the truck driver who was traced from Bumthang as a positive case on March 4 has recovered and was discharged on March 14.

However, a family of five members and their driver tested positive.



The man tested positive on antigen on March 14 at flue clinic in Wangdichloing. His wife, their two children, and his driver also tested positive for Covid-19. The family returned to Bumthang from Trongsa on March 10.

A vegetable vendor who returned from Trongsa on March 12 also tested positive for Covid-19.

A man who entered Bumthang on March 11 from Zhemgang via Trongsa also tested positive.

All three index cases were detected from the flu clinic.

According to the incident commander, all the contacts are traced and were quarantined.



The four family members are kept in home isolation and the other three are in the isolation facility.

Meanwhile, 27 positive cases were detected in Trongsa yesterday. Since March 7, 56 positive cases have been recorded in Trongsa.

The dzongkhag task force closed all the offices and financial institutions from March 14.

The hotels, restaurants and bars are also closed, but the emergency and essential health services are open.



The movement of people and vehicles from gewogs to dzongkhags is discouraged unless it’s an emergency. The shops and business should close by 8 PM.

The dzongkhag task force also identified and marked the building with positive case as a red building.
