Construction Development Corporation Limited (CDCL) signed contract agreement with Kholongchhu Hydro Energy Limited today coinciding with auspicious day of Buddha Parinirvana for construction of part of Head Race Tunnel from Adit 2 and Chaplangchhu diversion works worth Nu 991.30 million in Trashiyangtse.
The contract was awarded to CDCL by KHEL under the arrangement of offloading of at least 20% scope of work from Main Civil Package KC-2 of HRT won by Valecha-Rigsar JV at their evaluated rates. The project involves construction of 400m of Adit 2, 2.1km of Head Race Tunnel, and Chaplangchhu Diversion works which includes major components of hydropower projects at smaller scale.
CDCL is the first contractor for major civil work packages to sign the contract for Kholongchhu Hydropower Project.
Balance major part of HRT under Main Civil Package KC-2 will be executed by Valecha-Rigsar JV. The other two major Main Civil Package of Dam and Power House was won by Jaiprakash Associates Limited, an Indian construction company executing Dam and Power House packages in PHPA 2.
CDCL took up construction of exploratory drift of length 1,770m in August 2016 for Drukgreen Power Corporation Limited for Nyera Amari Hydropower Project’s DPR study and completed in October 2020.The first successful entry into construction of major hydropower project by CDCL was in June 2017 on sub-contract from Hindustan Construction Company at Nikachhu Hydropower Project in Trongsa for part of the 2.84km HRT from Adit 4 of length 674m in Tsangkha, Trongsa.
Today, CDCL has excavated more than 3km of HRT and 1.8km of drift tunnel using completely national manpower and had developed resources and capacity in the construction of underground works.
