Connectivity: A double lane RCC bridge will be constructed over the Chamkharchhu, which will allow people from Dawathang to drive to Dorjibi and Pangrey.

Dawathang is about 400 meters from Kurjey Lhakhang junction towards Chokhortoe.

Dzongkhag engineer Yeshi Dorji said that the bridge is being constructed to create a ring road. People, especially pilgrims who visit important shrines like Kurjey, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamzing and Koenchosum Lhakhang, will not have to route through Chamkhar town.

Yeshi Dorji said that the bridge construction work has already been tendered and awarded. Currently, survey work is going on at the site. “The road from Tamzhing till the bridge point at Dawathang will also be blacktopped,” he said.

He said the construction of the bridge will begin by April and should be completed by December 2018.

People said construction of this bridge is going to cut the distance between Kurjey and Tamzhing significantly.

“It takes about 15 minutes to reach Tamzhing from Kurjey. It will not take even five minutes once the bridge is in place,” Tshewang, who lives in Bumthang said. “It also becomes easier for the people living in Tamzhing to come to the gewog centre.”
