Power: Less than a month after National Housing Development Corporation Limited (NHDCL) installed streetlights at the old NHDCL colony, more than half of the streetlights have stopped functioning.

Officials are waiting for the equipment to replace the streetlights and said that tenants should take some responsibility to take care of the streetlights.

Total of eight streetlights were installed before November 11 to help reduce burglary cases in and around the colony that is located near the border town.

NHDC manager, Dorji Nidup, said miniature circuit breakers are removed from the poles and are missing, which could have been avoided if tenants were vigilant and stopped children from playing with the poles.

“Yet we’ll repair the lights as soon as we get the equipment,” he said. “There are other equipment like contractor and capacitor that are damaged because of climate. We’ll fix that too.”

NHDCL officials have also repaired the road that leads to the colony. There is also a plan to raise border wall.
