BCCB: The Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) K4 Cup, formerly the Bhutan Super League, began last week.

In the opening match team Tashas United defeated Takin City by 190 runs.

Yesterday’s encounter saw Tashas United notch up yet another victory inspired by their veteran player Damber Gurung. His score of 158 runs the defeat of Youth XI by 115.

Batting first after winning the toss, Tashas United resumed from where they left off yesterday by making quick runs at the start. When Damber Gurung stepped onto the field with four wickets down, Tashas United had accumulated 84 runs in 15 overs.

His blistering innings combined with tail ender Sagar Pradhan’s 55 not out, set a target of 365 for Youth XI to chase.

Chasing a target of 365 runs, wickets fell at regular intervals for Youth XI as the fire power in Tashas United’s attack bowled them out for 249 in the 39th over.

Kencho Tobgay scored 75 runs for Youth XI followed by Vishal and Amit with 38 and 37 runs respectively. The man of the match went to Damber Gurung for his 158 runs and four wickets.

The Jimithang cricket ground at Dechencholing will be playing host to all matches which begins at 10.00 am every weekend.

The K4 Cup is BCCB’s one-day, first class competition for leading club teams. The tournament was first played in 2008.

The tournament is being co-sponsored by the Bhutan Tourism Cooperation Limited in association with Bhutan Olympic Committee, Asian Cricket Council and International Cricket Council.
