The national referral hospital (JDWNRH) in Thimphu is finding it difficult to handle crowds of people at its old block.

The hospital management has started a token system to ease crowding and to ensure physical distancing.

Queuing begins from 8am.  Services such as blood test start by 6am.

There is only one entry point, which leads to crowding.

Rinchen Namgyel, a desuup, said it was important to remind people to observe health protocols.  Visitors complain about slow service at the hospital.

With fewer doctors at the hospital, it has become challenging for 72 desuups 42 security guards at the hospital.

Efforts were being made to make the services efficient, said the hospital management.

A patient said that different tokens for different departments could ease crowding and speed up the provision of services.
