Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) won both the constituencies in Haa yesterday.

 In Bji-Katsho-Eusu constituency, DNT’s candidate Ugen Tenzin secured 991 more votes than Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa’s (DPT) candidate Sonam Tobgay.

 Ugen Tenzin secured 1,879 votes with 1,275 EVM votes and 604 postal ballots, winning both in EVM and postal ballots. Sonam Tobgay secured 669 EVM votes and 219 postal ballots, 888 votes in all.

 One of the voters at Samar Community Centre, Kencho Wangmo from Balamnang: “I voted in all three elections and I feel it is important as people have the right to choose the most capable candidate.”

 She said that this would ensure that the country would continue to develop. “For me, I am hopeful that whichever party wins, they would work for the benefit of the common people.”

 Another voter, Gado, came with his family to vote in Geychukha community centre in Bji gewog. “Exercising voting right means a person is responsible and thinks for the nation. The election is a way for people to choose candidates that can best serve the nation and its people.”

 In Sombaykha too, DNT swept the general elections. DNT’s candidate, Dorjee Wangmo, secured 679 more votes. She won both the postal ballots and the EVM votes, taking the total to 1,536 votes.

 DPT’s candidate, Tshewang Rinzin, secured a total of about 617 EVM votes and about 240 postal ballot votes.

 During the envelope B opening of the postal ballot yesterday, two postal ballots were rejected, taking the rejected ballots number to four.

 About 23 Voter Photo Identity Cards were prepared to facilitate voters yesterday.
