Forest officials, police, PHPA staff, army personnel and people of Athang, Daga gewog are still trying to contain the fire that started around 8.30pm on March 15 in Athang gewog, Wangdue.

The fire is suspected to have started from an electricity pole above the gewog centre road to Athangat a place called Dolamche.

Athang gup Khandu Dorji said a villager Aum Phuchu spotted the fire and informed the villagers. The gewog is verifying if the electricity pole belongs to the project authority or the Bhutan Power Corporation.
