Accident: A 31-year old truck driver was found dead yesterday morning after the tripper truck he was driving veered off the road near Tokorong, about 50km from Samdrupjongkhar.

According to police, the accident probably happened on the night of December 26. When his friends and the owner of the tripper couldn’t trace him, they immediately informed Samdrupjongkhar police.

Police official said they received a call around 10am yesterday and by the time police reached the accident spot, some truck drivers have already located the body.

“It looks like the driver had died from head injuries because his face was damaged beyond recognition,” a police official said. “Other drivers knew about the accident when they saw parts of iron barriers along the highway was broken near Tokorong.”

The tripper that was loaded with gypsum was damaged beyond repair after it toppled about 120 meters below the road from a rocky cliff.

The deceased from Trashiyangtse was traveling alone to Samdrupjongkhar.

Meanwhile, the body was handed over to the deceased’s relatives in Pemagatshel.
