Of the four primary contacts of the truck driver who tested positive after reaching Bumthang from Tashigang, samples of three primary contacts were sent for RT-PCR to Thimphu yesterday morning.

One of the primary contacts was a child of the hotel owner at Nangar in Bumthang and the sample was not sent for RT-PCR.

The truck driver was ferrying essentials from Sorchen to Tashigang.

The driver was put in an isolation facility and the three primary contacts were put into facility quarantine in Chamkhar.

It was learnt that the driver did his weekly mandatory RT-PCR test at Kamji in Chhukha on February 25 and tested negative.

On March 2, he gave swab samples for the RT-PCR test at Trashigang and returned to Bumthang. He and his friend spent the night halt at Yongkala.

The duo reached Nangar in Bumthang on March 4 when his result came positive. The driver and his friend had dinner in one of the hotels.

Health officials in Bumthang said he came from Tashigang as his Covid-19 test certificate was still valid.
