Tsimasham Police, Desuups and relatives will continue the search today for a missing driver after the truck he was driving fell into the river near Damchu yesterday.

Police official said relatives of the driver informed police around 10am after he did not reach home. He was 58.

The driver who is from Babesa and also the owner of the truck was on the way to Thimphu from Phuentsholing. The truck was carrying cement. The damaged truck was fished out of the river yesterday, but the driver was not found. Police said the truck veered about 45 meters below the highway.

Police are yet to establish the cause of the accident.

“The road is good, wide and the weather was also clear. So, we couldn’t establish the cause of accident although we suspect the driver was sleepy,” said a police official.
