AFC: Druk United FC will face Pakistan’s K-Electric FC in the opening game of the AFC Cup Playoff Qualifiers today at 6pm at the Changlimithang Stadium.

United’s head coach Pema said yesterday that with the experience the club has, it hopes to give a good fight to the two visiting champions. The club has some injuries on the bench, but “we’re confident of wining the game.”

Karun Gurung, a senior player with United, said that playing on the home ground has some advantages.

The three-day tournament will be the first international match for all the three clubs.

K-Electric FC’s head coach Mohammad Zabe Khan said his team is not taking any team lightly. “We had a good session of practice and we’ve trained well enough to win and advance to the next round.”

Coach Khan said that, personally, he would prefer his team to be underdogs, and added: “All three teams are here with the same objective and that’s to win. We’re also here to win.”

However, the Mongolian champions Khoromkhon FC is planning swift and hard full-on attack. The team’s head coach S Purevsukn said: “We are here to win, so we’ll attack the moment we get the opportunity.”

S Purevsukn said his team will watch Druk United FC-K-Electric FC match and plan their strategies.
