Township: Pemagatshel’s dzongkhag administration allotted a total of 27 commercial and 78 residential plots to landowners and business operators at Denchi on June 5.
About an hour’s drive from present Pemagatshel town, Denchi will be the new thromde with about 113.50 acres of land and six constituencies.
Residents said that they can construct permanent structures in the new township.
Land record officer Wangdi said that all the 27 business operators should make payment within three months while the residential plots are compensation given to 34 landowners. He added that to process for the land registration, they will first have to make the payment and only then will the lagthrams be issued.
“All the plots were allotted as per the local area plan (LAP) prepared by the works and human settlement ministry. The land was allotted based on four different categories.”
Wangdi said that once the lagthrams have been completed, LAP would be implemented and people could transfer their census to thromde. “We have allotted plots to only 27 business operators out of 49 based on seniority. We would allot the plots to the rest in the second phase after working out the details.”
The owners will have to dismantle the existing structures after the town is shifted to Denchi.
Town secretary Jigyel Phuntsho said that the issue on the building structures is yet to be resolved. “We’ve asked the if government if we can construct houses with more than two storeys so that we could make some income from rent.”
