An elephant killed a 67-year old farmer in Pemathang gewog, Samdrupjongkhar on April 28. The incident occurred around 5:30am when the farmer who is from Raling chiwog went to feed his cattle.

Pemathang gup, Madhukar Subha said that one of the farmers saw the deceased around 8am and reported the incident around 8:30am.

“The deceased didn’t notice the elephant that was eating banana near the cattle shed. But when the farmer encountered the elephant, it attacked even before he could run.”

The villagers tried to look for the elephant but by then it had already left the village.
