Yonten Lopen of the Zhung Dratshang, executive director of the Buddhist Art and Cultural Conservation Centre, Kesang Choden Tashi, and financial supporter, Master Lin Tseng Jung, inaugurated the news buildings of the Eutok Samdrup Chholing Goenzin Dratshang in Paro yesterday.
The new buildings include classrooms, hostel, kitchen, dinning hall, library, and toilet.
The principal of Eutok Samdrup Chholing Goenzin Dratshang, Tshewang Penjor, said that after significant damage from an earthquake in 2011, the dratshang underwent renovation in 2013.
“The renovation was supported by Her Majesty the Royal Grandmother Kesang Choden Wangchuck,” Tshewang Penjor said.
Master Lin Tseng Jung said that it was a great accomplishment for him and his supporter. “With the completion of the project, we formally handed it over to Royal Grandmother. I am grateful to all the supporters.”
Project co-ordinator, Chencho Tshering, said that the project was born out of dire need for infrastructure facilities and other amenities.
Eutok Samdrup Choling Goenzin Dratshang is located roughly four kilometres from Shaba Primary School. In 2004, it was handed over to the Central Monastic Body.
It is believed that Dorji Lingpa and his nephew, who were the disciples of Rigzin Jatson Nyingpo, established the Eutok Goenba.
