A 39-year-old man from Pantang in Zhemgang was airlifted to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) after he was injured in an explosion yesterday morning.

According to the health assistant of Pantang basic health unit (BHU), Samba Dorji, the man suffered a blast injury. “He suffered severe injuries on the face and left leg and multiple cuts on the body”

He said the man was airlifted at 11:25am. “He was in stable condition but could not talk.”

It is not known what caused the explosion, as the man was alone when the incident occurred. The incident happened near the gewog’s eco-lodge in Sangsari, about a kilometre away from Phangkhar gewog centre.

According to Phangkhar gewog mangmi, Tshering Norbu, the man lost his eyes and his left leg was severely injured. He said the man is a carpenter.
