It is cardamom season but price has not been improving. Farmers in Tashichholing, Samtse are saying the government’s buy-back initiative ruined the market.

Suppliers said that when the government announced that it would buy cardamom from farmers late last year, many farmers stocked the produce to sell it to the government. When the government did not buy the produce, the traders in the market began manipulating the price.
