Scouts: The National Council chairman Dasho (Dr) Sonam Kinga inaugurated the first ever Gyalyong Gyalsey Nachung camp at Punakha Central School, yesterday.

The camp brought together 300 Nachung scouts from 32 of the remotest schools in the country, including those from places as far away as Sakteng and Laya.

The five-day camp is organised by the scouts and culture education division of the Department of Youth and Sports. The camp will conclude on December 27.

Education officials said the camp is dedicated to the Birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey and to mark one hundred years of scouting in the world.

During the five-day camp, the students will participate in adventurous, creative and fun activities. The younger scout students will be guided by senior scouts who have joined the camp as volunteers.

Officials said the camp will be a historic and memorable event for the participating Nachung scouts, as it is the first ever Nachung scouts camp held on a national level.
