Gate: Construction of international border gate in Nganglam Dungkhag began yesterday with salang tentrel  (groundbreaking ceremony).

The integrated border gate, which is the first of its kind in the country, stands between Nganglam and Assam State of India. The border gate is scheduled to be complete within 30 months.

As per the structural plan, the integrated check post will consist of main entry and exit gates, a six-lane road, a truck parking, and one-storey house for BAFRA, immigration, police, forest and custom counters.  The gate will also have CCTV cameras.

Nganglam Dungpa Nima Gyeltshen said that the gate will have adequate space and reduce traffic congestion. “The construction of the gate was possible because the biological corridor issue has been resolved.”

The gate is also expected to help improve service delivery systems. The police check post records more then 200 trucks, excluding small and medium vehicles, carrying Dragon cements, coals from India and other raw materials that passes from the main gate every day.
