Thimphu police arrested five men aged between 23 and 28 for having involved in a stabbing of a 24-year-old man.

The incident happened around 1 am at Olakha in Thimphu on May 12.  The case was reported to police when the victim was brought to the national referral hospital with stab injuries. He sustained injuries on left thigh and right hand.

On investigation, it was learned that the victim was involved in a fight. He told police that when he was about to enter a discotheque, he met with a group of men in a corridor who attacked him.

All five suspects were arrested the next day. The suspects were painters, unemployed and freelance guide. The victim is also unemployed.

A police official said the suspects confessed to the crime and the knife was also seized from the men. “They said they had some misunderstanding with the victim following which the victim attacked them and they also attacked him.”
