Two children and three men died in two separate incidents yesterday in Jumja and Darla.

In Jumja, a boulder hit a Hilux and an eight-year old boy died on impact. His younger brother, who was a year old died on the way to the hospital. The Hilux was travelling to Phuentsholing from Thimphu.

The 33-year old mother of the two is admitted at Gedu hospital, according to the sources. She is recovering.

The driver of the Hilux has been referred to Thimphu with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 2pm yesterday.

In a separate incident, around 11:30am yesterday, a tipper truck toppled due to the loose soil it was plying over. The truck was loaded with sand and running on a logging road.

Three men were on the truck with the sand. Although the truck had fallen about 10-feet, the passengers died after they got buried in the sand.

Two men were from Samtse while the third one was from Samdrupjongkhar.

On June 28, a woman also died after the Hilux she was travelling in met with an accident between Gedu and Wangkha.

Traffic police in Phuentsholing are sensitising people driving along the Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway to be cautious as it is rainy season.
